SKI PATROL Emergency: 802-464-4005
non-emergency: 802-464-1100 x4444
All employees are required to call Ski Patrol and their supervisor/manager in the case of involvement in an incident, whether on or off the clock.
GUEST- RELATED INCIDENTS
All employees must report themselves as witnesses to any incident observed on the mountain by contacting the Ski Patrol.
Assess the guest’s condition. Offer to call Ski Patrol if deemed necessary. If the guest refuses Ski Patrol, allow him to get up unassisted to continue skiing or riding.
Avoid making statements of personal opinion regarding the accident, including assignment of fault or blame.
For accidents that involve bleeding: Note where the person is bleeding and estimate how much loss of blood. If possible and appropriate, instruct the injured person to apply pressure over the wound.
Do not move the injured person or attempt to control bleeding. Exceptions may be made, if you have current First Aid training and proper equipment, e.g. latex gloves, pocket mask, etc.

STUDENT-RELATED INCIDENTS
Do not attempt to move an injured person. Place crossed skis or a snowboard above the scene so they are visible to skiers and riders above.
Remain calm. Instruct your guests/students to stay with you at the scene and position them to wait in a protected area. Ask witnesses to remain on scene for Ski Patrol.
Report the accident via cell phone or send a competent adult to the base of a lift to contact Ski Patrol.
Wait with the injured student until Ski Patrol arrives.
Verify name and contact information of the guest.
Report all children’s incidents to the appropriate Children’s Center. A supervisor will contact the parent.
Patrol should ALWAYS be called for any incident involving a lift.
Report the incident to your supervisor IMMEDIATELY.
Debrief the incident with your supervisor and create a plan for following-up with the guest.
EMPLOYEE-RELATED INCIDENTS
Make a note of all witnesses, including students.
In the case of a collision with another skier/rider, both parties are required to remain on scene until they have provided name and contact information to a member of Ski Patrol or Mountain Safety, even if no injury results.
In the event of any incident, regardless of whether or not you think there was an injury, notify your supervisor IMMEDIATELY.
If not involved in an incident, but witness one, it must be reported to Ski Patrol and/or your supervisor.
