The Trainer Development Pathway  Process

  1. Write and submit a letter of intent. Tell us why you want to be a staff trainer. This may be reviewed by a committee that includes Skier Services Management

  2. Write a sample clinic. Format: 1 hour indoor or outdoor clinic. Skiing/Riding Improvement, Teaching Improvement or People Skills. Set clear learning outcomes.

  3. Shadow a minimum of three clinics. Debrief with the trainer after the clinic. Write a summary of what was covered and be prepared to discuss your observations with the Trainer Pathway Team. By the final clinic be prepared to coach the group and receive feedback. The clinic leader will fill out an understudy form.

  4. Go through a job interview with the Training Manager. We will review the letter of intent, the understudy forms and your resume. The Training Manager will then either offer the candidate a role on the training team or a continued development plan.

Maintaining and Development:

  • All members of the Training staff will be reviewed through multiple avenues:

  • Over studies

  • Staff Feedback

  • Peer Feedback

  • Staff is expected to maintain current skillset, and to develop while following the guidelines outlined in the Missions Statement, and Key Attributes

  • Staff members with inadequate performance may be removed from the Training Staff and will be invited to follow the steps laid out in the Trainer Development Pathway in order to rejoin the Training Staff
