Alpine Beginner Progression
Below is a collection of videos and ideas to help guide you through teaching a beginner lesson. Remember that we are not teaching in linear progressions, we are using skill building activities that will offer our students an amazing experience that is fun and rewarding. Our goal should always be the student having an experience that makes them feel like a “Skier.”

MOvements for Skiing-Alpine FUndamentals
The body flexes/extends and rotates and this in turn creates specific Ski performances. We mostly talk about the Hips-Knees-Ankles. We can look to the Alpine Specific Fundamental’s to draw the parallels of that relationship.
Control the relationship of the center of mass to the base of support to direct pressure along the length of the skis.
Control pressure from ski to ski and direct pressure toward the outside ski.
Control edge angles through a combination of inclination and angulation.
Control the skis’ rotation with leg rotation, separate from the upper body.
Regulate the magnitude of pressure created through ski/snow interaction
